The History

On Pentecost Sunday of 2010, over 3,400 believers gathered at the Sarasota Bradenton Convention Center for a service of repentance. Pastors from thirty-seven churches, as well as ministry leaders from the area, stood before God and the assembly and repented for their sin of sectarianism and committed to becoming one. Shortly after this verbal act of unity, came the question:

"How does a group of theologically & ecclesiastically divergent backgrounds practically come together as one?"

A Commitment to Unity

A Commitment to Unity

To help answer that question, a white paper emerged called Alignment for Assignment was studied and discussed through the fall of 2010 and on January 5, 2011 led to a group of 19 churches, ministries and businesses signing a Scroll of Remembrance as a move toward a written act of unity.

This signing was a written commitment to say that we don't know all that is involved in becoming one but we believe the Lord is guiding us down a path of revealing a new paradigm for doing ministry together.

The Foundational Framework

The Foundational Framework

As a result of these discussions and this written commitment, it became evident that a common functional understanding of the collective purpose of the five-fold ministry gifts for equipping the saints spoken of in Ephesians chapter 4 as well as the role of regional elders, would be a foundational piece of this paradigm. These topics were studied throughout 2011 by a group of local leaders. See the results of their work and conclusions below.
